House Passes National Clinical Care Commission Act

10/11/2017 - The House of Representatives passed S. 920, the National Clinical Care Commission Act, which would establish a commission to evaluate and recommend solutions for better coordination and use of federal programs to support care for people with diabetes and metabolic syndromes and disorders.

The bill gives registered dietitian nutritionists a seat at the table to ensure federal programs provide the most efficient and effective care for those with diabetes and related diseases.

The Senate had already passed the bill and it now goes to President Trump, who is expected to sign it this week.

The Academy has been involved with the bill throughout the legislative process and will continue working to ensure the essential role of nutrition is properly recognized in the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
