Academy to Present 2016 Medallion Awards to Six Members at FNCE

CHICAGO – The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics will present its prestigious 2016 Medallion Awards to six registered dietitian nutritionists in recognition of outstanding service and leadership in the Academy and the nutrition and dietetics profession.

Medallion Awards have been given to Academy members each year since 1976. The winners will receive their awards on Sunday, October 16, during the Academy's Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, in Boston, Mass.

The 2016 Medallion Award recipients are:

  • William C. Barkley, MBA, RD, LD, FAND, Overland Park, Kan.
    Barkley is the general manager and food service director for Sodexo Healthcare Management at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics in Kansas City, Mo., and Overland Park, Kan.
  • Barbara J. Ivens, MS, RDN, FADA, FAND, Newaygo, Mich.
    Ivens is the executive director of nutrition and health professional engagement at ConAgra Foods.
  • Gladys E. Jennings, MS, Ret RD, Mill Creek, Wash.
    Jennings is professor emerita in the College of Agriculture and Home Economics at Washington State University.
  • Sue Kent, MS, RD, LD, Cleveland Heights, Ohio
    Kent is a clinical systems analyst at the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Human Nutrition.
  • Brenda Richardson, MA, RDN, LD, CD, FAND, Salem, Ind.
    Richardson is a publisher, author and speaker and president of a foodservice and nutrition operations consulting firm.
  • Linda A. Vaughan, PhD, RDN, FAND, Phoenix, Ariz.
    Vaughan recently retired as director of school nutrition and health promotion at Arizona State University.
