A registered dietitian nutritionist who has worked in community, nonprofit, corrections and private consulting, Lites is a certified specialist in oncology nutrition at Kaiser Permanente's Comprehensive Cancer Center. Previously, she was a clinical dietitian at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La.; catering/cafeteria manager at the University of California – Davis Medical Center; and an RDN in the university's cardiac rehabilitation department. Lites began her career as an RD at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Ala.
She served five years on the Executive Committee of the National Organization of Blacks in Dietetics and Nutrition and was NOBIDAN's chair in 2012. Lites is a member of the Academy's National Honors and Award committee as well as the Diversity Committee. She is a member of several dietetic practice groups and member interest groups, including both the Oncology Nutrition and Dietitians in Nutrition Support DPGs; and the National Organization of Men in Nutrition and Fifty Plus in Nutrition and Dietetics MIGs. Lites chaired the California Dietetic Association's Awards Committee and is active in its Northern California district affiliate.
